Vivies Story Viewer for Instagram Privacy Policy

Data Collection

This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data or browsing information with any external server. All user preferences (favorites, alarms, theme settings) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API and never leave your device.

How It Works

This extension provides an alternative interface for viewing Instagram stories. It fetches content directly from Instagram's API using your existing Instagram session. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not send any data to external servers.

Network Requests

The extension communicates only with official Instagram domains to provide its functionality:

• instagram.com: To fetch user profiles, stories, highlights, and search results via Instagram's API.

• i.instagram.com: To access Instagram's secondary API endpoints for story content.

• cdninstagram.com: To download photos and videos from Instagram's content delivery network.

• fbcdn.net: To download media files from Instagram's content delivery network (Meta/Facebook CDN).

No data from these requests is collected, logged, or sent to any external server.

Third-Party Services

This extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, or data collection services.

Permissions

The extension requires the following permissions, each used solely for the described purpose:

• storage: Save your preferences (favorites, alarms, theme) locally in your browser.

• alarms: Periodically check for new stories from users you set alarms for.

• downloads: Download photos and videos to your device.

• cookies: Read your Instagram session cookie (CSRF token) to authenticate API requests on your behalf. The extension only reads this cookie and never writes or modifies any cookies.

• declarativeNetRequest: Manage network requests to optimize performance and functionality.

• instagram.com: Access Instagram's API for fetching user profiles, stories, and search results.

• i.instagram.com: Access Instagram's secondary API endpoints for story content.

• cdninstagram.com: Download photos and videos from Instagram's content delivery network.

• fbcdn.net: Download media files from Instagram's content delivery network (Meta/Facebook CDN).

Local Storage

All data stored by this extension remains on your device:

• Favorites: List of saved user profiles.

• Alarms: List of users you want to be notified about.

• Alarm States: Timestamps used to detect new stories for your alarm list.

• Theme: Your selected theme preference (light/dark).

• Notifications: Pending new story notifications.

• Seen History: Your local viewing history.

Data Retention

Data is retained on your device until you:

• Uninstall the extension (all data is automatically deleted)

• Manually clear the extension's storage through Chrome settings

• Clear your browser data

User Rights

You have the right to:

• View your stored data at any time through Chrome's developer tools

• Delete all stored data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage

• Choose which features to use (favorites, alarms, etc.)
